The enormous collective misunderstanding of yoga, is what inspired me to become a teacher.

On the surface, we’re a lot of different people doing a lot of different things, but on the deepest level, we’re all walking the same path. Knowingly or unknowingly, our soul is on a mission to get home. If you observe yourself, you will notice that there are ultimately two forces in you. One is always seeking expansion. Whether it is expanding your bank account, your home, your family, your knowledge, your popularity, your power etc. Something is always seeking to break the walls and become boundless. On the other hand there is a part of you which wants to put up walls to protect. This may manifest in not being vulnerable, staying away from people you don’t like, avoiding doing things you don’t like etc. It is a bit contradictory and often creates a lot of suffering. Learning to manage these forces consciously so we can find fulfilment in our expansion, is what yoga is all about. As power, knowledge, love and money will never bring permanent fulfilment, we need to look elsewhere. We’re all looking for that fulfilment, and we’re trying to find it in so many ways, and eventually realise, ‘this was not it either’. Yoga is showing us the way. Taking us to liberation. Liberated from the cycles and chases of life.
The four ways of yoga
As humans, we experience life in four different ways. Through emotion, intellect, physical body and energy. So, naturally there are four ways to bring you the realisation. These are the four ways of yoga.
Bhakti Yoga
Bhakti Yoga is about using your emotions to reach the ultimate, through devotion and gratitude. This includes mantras, chanting, service, donations and such.
Kriya Yoga
Kriya Yoga is about using your energy to reach the ultimate, through energy work. This includes pranayama.
Karma Yoga
Karma Yoga is about using your physical body to reach the ultimate. Often misunderstood as selfless service, but it is not so. Self-less service is one way of doing it, but not exclusively. This include the typical postures known as asanas.
Gnana Yoga
Gnana Yoga is about using your intellect to reach the ultimate, essentially by being completely truthful to yourself and sort what do you actually know, and what is just beliefs and assumptions.

3 Simple Ways to Control Your Emotions
Any emotion, either pleasant or unpleasant just wants to flow through us. As soon as we resist the emotion in any way, we restrict its passage through our system and it gets trapped and stored as tension. What does it take to process an emotion? And how can we remember what to do, when hell…
3 Sure Ways to Empowerment
I define empowerment like this; It is the capability to contain energy and our ability to channel it consciously. All the energy we accumulate, we tend to waste it on things that are not really that meaningful to us. How can we find where we want to direct our energy, and how do we channel…
Pranayama
Pranayama is one of the most common aspects of a yogic practice, along with meditation(dhyana) and physical postures(asanas). Pranayama is often defined as ‘Breath Control’, which is not wrong, but there is more to it. Prana means ‘life force’ and ayama means ‘expansion’. So a more correct definition would be ‘Expansion of Life Force’. Four…
